Meet The Woman Behind Wolff Studios
Travel has always been in your blood. Tell us a bit about your background — how did you go from Germany to Australia to building Wolff Studios?
Travel wasn't something I chose, it was just my life from the beginning. My dad had a travel agency, so moving, exploring, and adapting was part of my childhood. I think that shaped everything about how I see the world and how I work.
I started my career at a leading international fashion brand in Germany, which gave me a real foundation in design and global markets. But it was Australia that truly became home. I spent over a decade working in the leather goods industry here, getting deep into craftsmanship, quality materials, and what it actually means to make something that lasts. These years taught me more than anything else.
Wolff Studios was born out of all of that — my love of travel, my obsession with design, and a very specific need for a bag that could keep up with the way I live and work.
Was there a specific moment you knew you had to create Wolff Studios?
I was travelling constantly — between India, Los Angeles, Europe, Australia — working remotely, moving through airports and time zones and meetings, and I just couldn't really find a bag that worked. Everything I found was either beautiful but impractical, or functional but completely uninspiring. And nothing was made from full-grain leather with any real intention behind it.
I kept thinking: I can't be the only woman who needs this. More and more women are working across borders, travelling for business, building careers that don't fit inside four walls. So I stopped looking and started designing.
What does a typical working day look like for you — and is the café, on-the-move lifestyle a choice or just how life happens?
One hundred percent a choice. I am not built for a 9-to-5, and I mean that with deep respect for people who are, it's just genuinely not me.
Some mornings I'm up early, working before the rest of the world wakes up. Other times I'm doing my best thinking late at night with a glass of wine. There's no rigid structure, and that's exactly how I like it. My lunch break might be at the beach. My office might be a café in Byron Bay, or a co-working space in Bali, or my family's kitchen table in Germany.
That freedom, to work when I'm focused, where I feel inspired, is what drives me. The café thing isn't aesthetic. It's just where I think best. The hum of people, a good chai tea, the kind of low-level energy that actually helps me focus. I pack up my Tokyo Bag and my Oslo Laptop Sleeve and I go.

How involved are you in the design process? Where do ideas actually come from?
I design everything. Every single piece starts with me.
Ideas come from living, from travelling, from conversations with other women, from noticing what's missing. I'll be on a long-haul flight thinking about a pocket placement. I'll chat to an entrepreneur about what annoys her about her current bag and write it down on a napkin. (Yes, I still write on paper. And yes, I carry too many notebooks.)
I don't design based on trends. I design based on need. Every feature in every Wolff Studios bag exists because someone, usually me, needed it.
What's always in your bag?
Depends on the day. For a café working session, I'm running minimal: my Tokyo Bag and the Oslo Laptop Sleeve with my MacBook, a notebook, an embarrassing number of pens, my Elisa Wallet, earphones, lip gloss, keys, and sunscreen — because Byron Bay, and because working outside in cafés is not just a vibe, it's a lifestyle hazard.
When I'm travelling or it's a bigger day — pilates, lunch at the beach, back-to-back meetings — the Sydney Tote comes out. Water bottle, lunch, gym clothes or a bikini, more notebooks, laptop. Essentially I move my entire life from one beautifully organised bag to another. Very efficient. Very me.
How do you stay organised when you're working across so many things at once?
Honestly? I think I was just born this way. I'm German, so maybe it's not entirely surprising. There's a system for everything. A place for everything. I genuinely cannot function in chaos.
That said, ask me about my notebook situation and the organised facade starts to crack a little. I have a notebook for ideas, a notebook for to-do lists, a notebook for meetings. I write everything by hand. Old school? Absolutely. Changing it? Never.
The bags help too, more than people might expect. When your bag is designed with real intention — pockets that make sense, compartments that actually fit your life — you start the day one step ahead. That calm carries through everything else.
What does freedom mean to you — in work and in life?
Everything. Truly, everything.
The ability to change my scenery when I need to, without asking anyone's permission. To work from a different city, a different country, a different café, because that's what I feel like today. To build something on my own terms, in my own time, in a way that reflects who I actually am.
That's the whole reason Wolff Studios exists the way it does.
What's one thing you wish more women knew about building a business on their own terms?
That you are alone, and that's okay.
Not in the dark way it might sound. You have people who love you, friends who support you, family who cheers you on. But at the end of the day, the decisions are yours. No one to ask. No one to defer to. You learn, you fail, you figure it out, you grow — entirely by yourself.
That used to feel scary. Now it feels like the greatest privilege. The freedom means more to me than anything else I could have chosen.
