Leather Care

Your bag is made to last. Here's how to help it.

Full-grain leather is the most durable, most honest material we work with. Unlike processed leathers, the surface is left completely untouched — every natural marking, grain variation, and texture is preserved exactly as nature intended. It breathes. It softens with use. Over time, it develops a patina that is entirely its own.

But like any natural material, it needs a little care to stay at its best.

Understanding Your leather

Wolff Studios bags are made from full-grain Australian cowhide with an aniline finish. This means the leather is dyed without a surface coating — the grain remains fully visible and the material retains its natural feel. It's a deliberate, conscious choice that reflects our commitment to authenticity.

Because the surface is uncoated, aniline leather is more responsive to its environment than pigmented leathers. It will absorb moisture more readily. It will show the marks of your life — and gradually, beautifully, they will become part of its story.

How to

Care for Your Wolff Studios Bag

Condition regularly

Conditioning is the single most important thing you can do for your leather. Full-grain leather contains natural oils that keep it supple and strong. Over time — through use, travel, and exposure to the elements — those oils deplete. A good conditioner replenishes them, keeping it soft, supple, and aging beautifully over time.

We recommend conditioning your bag every 3–4 months with regular use, or any time the leather starts to feel dry or look dull.

Apply to a cool, dry surface — never in direct sunlight. Heat causes leather to absorb product unevenly and can darken or distort the grain. Find a shaded spot, apply in small circular motions, and allow to fully absorb before buffing with a soft cloth.

Clean Gently

For day-to-day dust and surface dirt, a soft dry cloth is all you need.

For light marks or spills, use a barely damp cloth (not wet) and blot — never rub. Rubbing spreads moisture and can cause uneven drying. Allow the leather to air dry naturally, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

Avoid household cleaning products, alcohol-based wipes, baby wipes, and harsh detergents. These strip the natural oils from the leather and can permanently damage the finish.

Protect

Sun: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight will fade and dry out full-grain leather. Store your bag away from windows and avoid leaving it in direct sun.

Rain and moisture: If your bag gets caught in the rain, don't panic. Blot excess water with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry at room temperature. Once fully dry, condition the leather. Do not use a hairdryer or place it near a heater.

Heat: Avoid radiators, car boots in summer, and any prolonged heat exposure. Heat dries leather out faster than almost anything else.

Humidity: Avoid storing in airtight containers or plastic bags. Leather needs to breathe. If storing it, stuff the bag lightly to maintain its shape and keep it in a dust bag in a cool, ventilated space.

Avoid over-saturation

More conditioner is not better. Applying too much too frequently can clog the pores of the leather and cause over-softening. A small amount, worked in gently, is all that's needed. Less, more often, is the approach.

Storage

Store your bag upright, stuffed lightly with tissue paper to hold its shape. Keep it in the dust bag provided, in a cool, dry space away from direct light. If storing long-term, air it out occasionally to prevent any moisture build-up.

Introducing the

Wolff Studios Leather Conditioner

Because what nourishes your bag should be as considered as the bag itself.

We created the Wolff Studios Leather Conditioner — a specially formulated cream made from natural Australian bush ingredients, developed and refined over 75 years.

A rich, homogenised soft cream that restores the natural oils and resins in your leather, keeping it soft, supple, and protected. It creates a gentle protective layer that limits the effects of weather, moisture, and everyday wear — without dulling the leather's natural character or finish.

How to use:
Apply a small amount to the included microfibre cloth and work into the leather using gentle circular motions in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight. Allow to fully absorb, then buff to a nourished, natural finish.
